Hello there! My name is Veronica; I am a graduate student at Bushnell University in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. I am a 30-year-old bilingual First-Generation Salvadorean American woman who is heterosexual and cisgender. Originally from Nebraska and raised in a predominantly Hispanic Christian church, my faith still remains a core part of my journey. Being the child of Salvadoran immigrants has positioned me as a cultural bridge, instilling resiliency and informing my commitment towards immigration rights, and racial and economic liberation.  

My background gives me a unique look at life: I understand the complexity of family expectations and cultural values. My hope is to walk alongside you in bridging the gap between honoring your roots and being your authentic self to spark honest conversations.  I am drawn to working with adults and youth navigating concerns related to anxiety, life transitions, trauma, and other life stressors as well as historically marginalized groups.  

My counseling approach is grounded in my belief that every person, regardless of race, religion, gender, culture, age, or other identity intersection, has immeasurable worth and is deserving of unconditional acceptance. In sessions, I actively use collaboration, respect, empathy, and a framework that grants us both the space to explore our differences and similarities. This includes me being open to feedback and facilitating real conversations about how our identities show up in the therapeutic space and in the world. In my free time I like to forage for mushrooms with my two littles and Australian Shephard, read social science fiction books, and explore new trails.
