Art Therapy

Clinicians for this modality:

"Art is our one true global language. It knows no nation, it favors no race, and it acknowledges no class. It speaks to our need to reveal, heal, and transform. It transcends our ordinary lives and lets us imagine what is possible." -Richard Kamler

Using art as a part of therapeutic work can allow us access to our inner experiences that can be at times, difficult to make sense of.  Creative expression is a way of getting past our verbal limitations and tapping into the deeper well of our emotions.  Clients are invited to examine new possibilities through the creative process to jump into making art with a variety of medium such as drawing, sculpture, collage, painting, etc.  Although meaning is not interpreted about the art that is created, it is the goal alongside the therapist to facilitate your own meaning-making and insight.  You do not have to be skilled or even have picked up a crayon since your childhood, just open and willing to challenge yourself.
