“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.” —Brené Brown

Sierra believes that healing happens relationally as we experience a sense of being fully known, accepted, understood, and valued – just as we are. With a B.S. in Journalism & Communications and an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, she co-collaborates with you to explore your unique inner world. She believes that people are multi-dimensional with mind, body, and heart. Because of this, she seeks to balance cognitive, somatic, and emotional work in the therapy room. At the root of her therapy work, Sierra holds fast to the idea that each of our stories are sacred and that looking inward is brave work.

Just as each individual is unique, Sierra brings an eclectic approach to her counseling approach, often using ideas from Narrative, Internal Family Systems, Attachment, and Strengths-Based modalities into sessions to support you in your process of self-discovery and healing. She is also currently in the process of pursuing training and certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.

Sierra has experience working with children, teens, and adults in community mental health, non-profit, and group practice settings. Her main professional experience is in helping individuals with life transitions, grief & loss, work stressors & burnout, trauma & complex trauma, anxiety, social anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem, existential & spiritual concerns, and more. Being in a college town, Sierra also enjoys supporting high school and college-aged students as they navigate the oftentimes jolting transition to adulthood and/or higher education.

Born and raised as an Oregonian, Sierra appreciates how nature, movement, and creativity are all integral to her own well-being. She finds delight in creating, traveling, reading, paddleboarding, lifting weights, getting coffee with friends, and exploring new places and cultures.
