Welcome! My name is Monika, and I’m glad you’re here! I provide therapy through an eclectic and collaborative lens to create an empowering space for my clients to heal, grow, and discover. When asked about my decision to enter into the field of mental health, I always respond “For the humanity of it”.

I create a nonjudgemental open space for clients to process; I am not here to judge you or deem you in need of fixing, rather I see my role as your counselor as a witness to your process and a gentle guide when needed. This is your space, it should feel like it. I may be the expert on therapy, but you are the expert on you. I find this work to be sacred, and I feel honored to be part of your healing journey.

The framework of my practice is grounded in humanistic, feminist, social justice, and trauma- informed theories. I integrate a range of modalities including Narrative, Acceptance and Commitment, and Dialectal and Behavioral Therapies to create a holistic and integrative approach that meets the individual needs of each person I work with.

I have treated a wide range of mental health conditions, with a particular focus in complex trauma, poverty trauma, depression, and anxiety. I enjoy working with people from a breadth of backgrounds and experiences including survivors of abuse, LGBTQIA+ folx, formerly incarcerated individuals, parents, first-generation college students, neurodiverse folx, and people working to deconstruct limiting or oppressive beliefs. I recognize the intersectionality of identity and complexity of each situation; some of the ways in which I foster healing includes compassion, humor, creativity, advocacy, accountability, and recognition of influence of oppressive systems.

As an anti-oppressive and anti-racist clinician, I prioritize my own practice of deconstruction as well. I am committed to engaging in continued learning, my own therapeutic practice, self-care, mitigating power differentials, and using positions of privilege to amplify marginalized voices.

Feedback I have received from previous clients has held themes of feeling heard, accepted, and supported in the changes they have chosen for themselves. Shared themes of growth have included increased self-esteem, authenticity, ability to set and maintain boundaries, and regulation skills. From supervisors, I have received feedback with themes of being intuitive, personable, transparent, and an advocate for my clients.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know a bit about my approach to therapy, I am excited about the potential to work with you!
